Carolyn's School of Dance has been privileged to have been able to help countless dancers learn new skills, develop existing ones, and push themselves to be the best that they can be.
See what this has meant to some of them by reading their tributes below.
First started with Carolyn's School of Dance at the age of 11.
I started Carolyn's School of Dance at the age of 11. Going to class was the best part of my week until I left at 18 years old. Not only did I learn to dance we had so much fun too. Carolyn was always full of energy and enthusiasm in class even when I broke her nose executing a dance movement. I became a helper at the school and it became soon apparent I wanted to dance professional. I entered every compeition I could and Carolyn supported and encouraged me to achieve my goals. I am so proud that it all started at Carolyn's School of Dance!
After Carolyn's I was awarded a scholarship to train at London Studio Centre. My West End London theatre credits include: Casper the musical (Shaftesbury Theatre), Grease (Victoria Palace), Tonights the night (Victoria Theatre), We will Rock You (Dominion Theatre). Starlight Express (Bochum, German) and Starlight Express (Asia Tour).
I have been lucky enough to work with Ben Elton, Brian May (from Queen), Rod Steward, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and choreographer Arlene Philips.
First started with Carolyn's School
of Dance in 2005.
I started dancing at Carolyn's in 2005, starting my exams and competitions shortly after. During my time competing I collected a lot of trophies including ISTD Nationwide Rock & Roll champion title in 2011 as well as being placed in the finals for Set Dance, Freestyle Solo and Freestyle Pairs in ISTD and IDTA National Finals.
Dancing at Carolyn's helped me gain a lot of confidence which led me on to choosing it for a career, I completed my National Diploma in Performing Arts in 2013 and was then awarded a scholarship to train at Tiffany Theatre College in Leigh-On-Sea where I am currently training to become a professional. Without the help of the teachers at Carolyn's, I wouldn't be where I am today.
